This dive site, Les Amériques, is a relatively shallow dive located in France, characterized by large stone slabs forming a unique underwater landscape culminating in a dolmen at its highest point. The site is narrow, limiting the number of divers that can comfortably explore it simultaneously. Navigation is straightforward, following the stone formations upwards towards the dolmen.
Marine life includes a variety of crustaceans like lobsters, along with conger eels and mostelles (small fish species). The presence of holes in the rock formations provides ample hiding places for these creatures. Torpedo rays are also present, necessitating careful hand placement.
The best time to visit Les Amériques would likely be during the warmer months (summer and early autumn) when visibility is typically at its best, and the water temperature is more comfortable. For freedivers, the relatively shallow depth and mild currents make it a suitable location for breath-hold dives, however, careful planning and awareness of torpedo rays are necessary.
