This dive site is the wreck of the SS Carnatic, located in Egypt between the Giannis D and Chrisoula K wrecks. It rests at a depth ranging from 22m to 27m, making it a moderately challenging dive. While smaller than its neighboring wrecks, the SS Carnatic offers divers a unique experience, showcasing its impressively exposed ribs. Navigating the wreck requires careful attention to depth and orientation, as the structure is spread out across the seabed.
The site boasts a rich diversity of marine life. Divers can expect to encounter turtles, nudibranchs, morays, lionfish, scorpionfish, snappers, napoleon wrasse, crocodilefish, and various species of soft corals. The abundance of small life makes it an excellent spot for macro photography, while the wreck itself provides ample opportunities for wide-angle shots.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months (spring and autumn), when visibility tends to be optimal and the water is calmer. Divers should be aware of potential currents, especially during stronger winds. Because of the depth and potential for currents, this dive is more suitable for experienced divers and not recommended for freediving.
