This dive site, Habili Sama, a renowned reef in Fury Shoals, is characterized by two distinct small reefs separated by a vibrant valley. It's famous for hosting the largest anemone city in the region, extending from just 2 meters down to 17 meters. The site is relatively straightforward to navigate, typically involving a circumnavigation or exploration of the main reef structure and the anemone-filled channel. No specific history or story is provided.
The marine life here is exceptionally rich and diverse. Divers can expect to encounter a plethora of colorful reef fish, including the iconic clownfish residing in the extensive anemone city (Nemmmmmmooooo City). Other notable species include blue spots, white tip reef sharks, various box fish, lionfish, triggerfish, anthias, and buffer fish. The coral formations are equally impressive, featuring abundant soft corals, large table corals, and intricate gorgonian fans.
The best time to visit Habili Sama, like much of the Red Sea, is generally spring (April-June) and autumn (September-November) when water temperatures are comfortable and marine activity is high, though it's diveable year-round. This site is particularly recommended for underwater photographers due to its incredible macro and wide-angle opportunities with the anemone city and diverse reef. Freedivers will find the shallower anemone city and vibrant coral gardens perfectly suited for breath-hold exploration.
