This dive site, Gota Sataya, is conveniently located just 15 minutes north of Satayh lagoon. The northern side of the reef features an impressive display of six ergs (pinnacles) that ascend dramatically from a depth of 22 meters all the way to the surface, offering exciting swim-throughs and interesting topography. To the south, a plateau gently slopes from -10 meters down to 30 meters, providing a diverse underwater landscape to explore.
The waters of Gota Sataya are teeming with marine life. Divers can expect encounters with pelagic species such as the majestic coral reef shark and white tip reef shark. Resident triggerfishes are common, and the impressive Napoleon wrasse often patrols the reef. Lucky divers may also spot the graceful hawk turtle, adding to the rich biodiversity of this site.
The best time to visit Gota Sataya, like much of the Red Sea, is during spring (April-May) and autumn (September-November) when water temperatures are pleasant and visibility is consistently excellent. This site is excellent for both scuba divers and freedivers due to its varied depths and surface-reaching ergs. It's a fantastic spot for wide-angle photography, capturing both the impressive reef structure and the larger marine animals.
