This dive site, Fish and Friends, is a popular shore dive located just a short walk from the Oasis Fighting Cangoroo Camp in Egypt. Divers access the site via a private beach entrance. Underwater, navigation is straightforward, starting from seagrass meadows that lead to a small reef stretching north-east to a maximum depth of approximately 22 meters. The reef features individual coral blocks providing shelter and habitat.
The vibrant ecosystem at Fish and Friends is teeming with a variety of marine life, particularly macro subjects. Divers can expect to encounter countless shrimps, elusive dragonheads, well-camouflaged stonefish, playful anemonefish, secretive moray eels, rare ghost pipefish, striking dwarf lionfish, colourful damselfish, and schooling bannerfish. The initial seagrass meadows also offer unique photographic opportunities for specific species.
The best time to visit Fish and Friends is generally year-round, typical for Red Sea diving, with warmer waters from spring to autumn. This site is a highlight for macro photographers and those new to diving due to its easy access and abundant small marine life. Freedivers will also find the relatively shallow depths and clear conditions appealing for extended bottom times. Remember to respect the delicate coral environment.
