This dive site is the wreck of the Excalibur, formerly a dive boat that sank in 1996 due to an electrical fire. It rests at a relatively shallow depth, making it accessible to even open water certified divers. Navigation is straightforward; the wreck is largely intact and provides an easy penetration point for exploration. The site's history adds an intriguing element to the dive.
Marine life at the Excalibur is diverse and engaging. Notable inhabitants include several large lionfish residing in the bow section and a shoal of batfish inhabiting the captain's cabin. Various smaller fish and potentially other reef dwellers can also be observed.
The best time to visit the Excalibur is during the warmer months when visibility tends to be at its best. Divers should use appropriate buoyancy control to avoid damaging the wreck, and the relatively shallow depth makes this wreck an excellent site for freediving. Divers should always be aware of their air supply and ascend with sufficient time, also paying attention to any minor currents that may be present.
