About this dive site

This dive site features the Atlantic Princess, an old passenger liner intentionally sunk in May 2009 to create an artificial reef. Measuring 30 feet wide and 99 feet long, the wreck rests in the Bayahibe area, directly in front of the Dreams La Romana Resort. Its shallow depth makes it easily navigable, offering a relaxed exploration of its structure which has now become a vibrant underwater habitat.

The wreck is home to a rich array of marine life. Divers can expect to encounter nurse and reef sharks, with possibilities of spotting majestic eagle rays and various species of turtles. The site also boasts an abundance of fish, including snapper, angelfish, grunts, and grouper, alongside numerous anemones that add to the biodiversity of this thriving artificial reef.

The Atlantic Princess is suitable for divers of all experience levels due to its manageable depth and mild currents. It is also an excellent spot for snorkelers and freedivers, offering fantastic views from the surface and shallow depths. The Bayahibe area generally offers good diving conditions year-round, making it a reliable destination for underwater exploration.
