This dive site, Sea Fan City in Dominica, is one of the newer discoveries in the South, offering a distinct diving experience. Starting from the Suburbs mooring, divers follow the western wall, navigating its natural contours and ridges. The return journey leads divers onto a shallow shelf, characterized by an expansive area densely covered with sea fans and staghorn corals, creating a unique underwater landscape.
The marine life here is abundant and diverse. Divers can expect to encounter numerous black durgons throughout the site, particularly in the shallows. Other common sightings include Bermuda chub, schoolmasters, and a profusion of smallmouth grunts, adding vibrant activity to the coral formations.
While specific seasonal highlights are not provided, Dominica generally offers excellent diving conditions year-round, with calm, clear waters. This site is particularly suitable for divers looking to explore varied topography and enjoy vibrant coral gardens. The shallow shelf is also ideal for extended bottom times and excellent photography opportunities, especially macro and wide-angle shots of the fan corals.
