This dive site, Amager Strandpark - Havheksen, is an artificial reef located on a popular beach in Copenhagen, Denmark. The reef spans an area of approximately 150x50 meters and is situated 50-75 meters from the coast, making it easily accessible. Divers can navigate around the various structures of the reef, which serve as an underwater playground and habitat, offering a unique urban diving experience with an easy entry from either the beach or a pier.
The site is particularly noted for its abundance of small marine life. Divers can frequently observe many crabs, shrimps, and pipefish amongst the reef structures. Depending on the season, other species such as eels, plaice, eelput, goby, and sculpin are also commonly encountered, making it an excellent spot for macro photography and close observation of smaller aquatic creatures.
Amager Strandpark - Havheksen is best visited during the warmer months when water temperatures are more inviting and marine activity is generally higher. Its exceptionally shallow maximum depth makes it perfectly suited for beginners in scuba diving, as well as being highly recommended for snorkelers and freedivers looking to explore an interesting and accessible underwater environment close to the city.
