This dive site is the wreck of the Victory 8B freighter, intentionally sunk off the coast of Espírito Santo, Brazil. It rests in its navigational position, with many parts still intact, creating a fascinating and complex underwater landscape. The history of the wreck involves its abandonment due to financial troubles after just 18 months in port, transforming it into an artificial reef over time.
The wreck itself is home to a diverse array of marine life. Schools of various fish species swarm around the structure, while rays and turtles are also frequently sighted. The presence of numerous corals further enhances the biological diversity of the site. Divers can explore the various decks, the engine room (if accessible and safe), and the surrounding areas teeming with life.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (November to April), when visibility is typically better and the water temperature is more comfortable. Divers should be aware of the maximum depth of 32 meters and the potential for mild currents. Proper planning and adherence to safe diving practices, including sufficient bottom time and appropriate decompression stops (if needed), are essential. Due to the depth and the wreck itself, this dive is not suitable for freediving or snorkeling.
