This dive site, Ilha Rasa - Guincho, is a classic coastal dive located near Guincho beach in Brazil, perfect for less experienced divers. The underwater topography is relatively simple, consisting of gently sloping sandy seabed with some rocky patches. Navigation is straightforward, as the depth gradually increases as you move away from the shore. There is no known historical significance to this particular site.
The site boasts a variety of marine life. Shoals of cocoroca, dog-eye, surgeonfish, salemas, butterfly fish, and friars are common sights. Divers can also encounter larger animals like barracudas, turtles, and rays. The variety of fish creates opportunities for both macro and wide-angle photography.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months (October to May), when the water temperature is most pleasant and visibility is generally better. Even during these optimal periods, remember that visibility can be variable; don't expect crystal clear conditions. Divers should pay attention to their depth, as it can reach up to 20 meters. While currents are generally mild, divers should always check local conditions before entering the water.
