Exmouth Navy Pier, located just 15 minutes from Exmouth, Western Australia, is consistently rated one of the world's best shore dives. This unique and highly restricted site is a magnificent artificial reef, formed by a 300-meter-long naval pier, which creates a sheltered habitat teeming with an extraordinary abundance of marine life. Access is strictly controlled by the Australian Military, requiring prior company grants, ID verification, and fee payment, and dives must be booked through an authorized operator.
The relatively shallow waters around the pier offer straightforward navigation around its pylons, making it suitable for divers of all levels, including scuba, freediving, and even snorkeling. Divers can expect to encounter immense schools of tropical fish, prolific macro life, and impressive pelagics such such as white tip reef sharks. Depending on the season, the site is also known for sightings of grey nurse sharks. Due to very strong currents, dives are tightly regulated and must be timed for slack tide. Always check seasonal conditions for the best experience.
