Calf Rock, an integral part of the Calf and Cow reef system and located adjacent to Cow Rock, offers a rich and diverse underwater experience suitable for divers and freedivers of all levels. This separate dive location features engaging topography with numerous overhangs, intricate ledges, and captivating canyons, with shallower canyons being a particularly renowned feature. A substantial ledge provides excellent cover for marine life, though the site does not feature swim-throughs.
The seabed is characterized by a colorful, rocky bottom with shallow areas harboring beautiful examples of elkhorn, staghorn, and pillar coral. Biodiversity is truly amazing, with divers expecting to encounter large creatures such as lobsters, majestic eagle rays, and schooling horse-eye jacks. Crabs, nurse sharks, and other sharks are frequently spotted seeking refuge under the ledges, offering exciting encounters. Smaller, fascinating inhabitants like nudibranchs are also present, adding to the macro appeal.
With an average depth of 7 meters and a maximum of 14 meters, Calf Rock is highly suitable for snorkeling and freediving due to its accessible depths and rich surface-level activity. The vibrant marine life and diverse landscape make it a rewarding visit year-round.
