This dive site, known as South Double Ledges, features a distinct twin reef system running North/South. Divers can explore two prominent ledges: one rising approximately five feet from a depth of 85 feet (26 meters), and another about eight feet high from a depth of 65 feet (20 meters). The reef culminates in a large, circular bowl teeming with marine life, offering a unique topographical feature. It is renowned as a very good drift dive, making navigation straightforward as divers are carried along by the currents, allowing them to focus on the vibrant surroundings.
The ledges, holes, cracks, and overhangs provide ample habitat for a diverse array of marine animals and plants. The site is populated with various reef fish species and a rich assortment of corals, including large formations. Smaller creatures and invertebrates can be found sheltering in the numerous crevices, making it an engaging site for close observation of macro life within the vibrant ecosystem.
Visibility is typically good to very good, largely influenced by the clear waters of the Gulf Stream, making it an ideal spot for photography and extended bottom times. The site is well-suited for intermediate divers comfortable with drift diving, and its depths are also appealing to experienced freedivers. The continuous flow of the Gulf Stream ensures a lively environment year-round, though calm seas are always preferable for comfortable boat access and diving.
