This dive site, Eastern Sambo Reef, is located just 20 minutes south of Key West, residing within the fully protected Western Sambo Ecological Reserve. This extensive nine-square-mile area features characteristic spur-and-groove coral formations, providing a natural navigation system for divers exploring its gentle topography. Its protected status ensures a vibrant and healthy ecosystem, free from fishing pressures.

The reef boasts a remarkable diversity of marine life. Divers can encounter fascinating creatures such as Spiny-Tailed Lobsters, colorful Parrotfish, majestic Nurse sharks, and graceful Queen Conch. Other common sightings include various Angelfish, Snappers, Groupers, and sleek Barracuda, making every dive a discovery of the reef's rich biodiversity.

With depths ranging from a shallow 4 feet to a maximum of 10 meters, Eastern Sambo Reef is an excellent destination for divers of all experience levels, particularly beginners, snorkelers, and freedivers.
