About this dive site

This dive site features the Adolphus Busch, a 210-foot coastal freighter originally named M/V London, purposefully sunk in 1998 to create an artificial reef off the Lower Keys of Florida. The wreck rests at approximately 40 meters (120ft), with its deck around 33 meters (100ft), making it an engaging dive for experienced divers. Divers can explore the superstructure, holds, and deck areas, though penetration requires proper training and equipment due to the depth and potential currents.

The Adolphus Busch is a magnet for marine life. Divers frequently encounter large schools of snapper and grunts, alongside impressive black and Goliath groupers. Seasonal pelagics, including various shark species, tarpon, and permit, also frequent the wreck, offering thrilling encounters for divers.

While diving is possible year-round in the Florida Keys, the presence of seasonal pelagics can make certain times of year particularly rewarding. Divers should be prepared for variable currents and visibility, which can range from good to challenging. Due to its depth and the potential for strong currents, this site is best suited for intermediate to advanced divers. Freedivers with appropriate experience can also enjoy exploring the upper sections of the wreck.
