This dive site is the SS Petchaburi Bremen, a German-built cargo ship confiscated by Thailand in 1917 and renamed KAEO SAMUD. This substantial wreck, measuring 88.5m in length, now rests at depths between 19-24 meters, with a maximum depth of 19 meters and an average depth of approximately 9 meters. Situated in a channel, the site experiences very strong currents, making exploration a challenging but thrilling drift dive around its historical structure.
The SS Petchaburi Bremen has transformed into a vibrant artificial reef, extensively covered in a variety of hard and soft corals and sponges. This rich habitat supports a diverse ecosystem, allowing divers to encounter large pelagic species such as Barracuda and impressive giant Black Sting Rays, alongside numerous reef dwellers including Moray eels, angelfish, tusk fish, and Stone Fish.
While specific seasonal highlights are not provided, water visibility typically ranges from 6-20 meters. Due to the consistently very strong currents, this site is strictly recommended for advanced divers who are experienced in challenging conditions. The depth profile and powerful currents make it unsuitable for snorkeling and freediving, focusing the experience on skilled scuba divers seeking an exhilarating wreck adventure.
