This dive site, known as Hin Nok or Nok Pinnacle, is a captivating underwater pinnacle located between the picturesque islands of Koh Kradan and Koh Libong in Thailand. Its top barely breaks the water's surface, descending to a maximum depth of 16 meters with an average depth of approximately 8 meters. The site features a mix of vibrant staghorn coral gardens and sandy patches, offering a varied topography for exploration.
The marine life at Hin Nok is diverse and colorful, boasting many species of fish. Divers can expect to encounter parrot fish, butterfly fish, angelfish, and larger pelagics like barracuda and grouper. Moray eels can often be spotted tucked away in crevices, while macro enthusiasts will delight in searching for various nudibranchs amidst the corals. The staghorn coral area provides a thriving habitat for numerous smaller reef inhabitants.
The best time to visit Hin Nok generally aligns with the dry season in Southern Thailand, from November to April, offering calmer seas and optimal visibility. This site is particularly suitable for divers of all levels due to its shallow depths and gentle conditions, making it an excellent spot for training or leisurely dives. Freedivers will also find the pinnacle an appealing target, offering accessible depths and abundant marine life close to the surface. Always be mindful of boat traffic, especially near the pinnacle's surface.
