This dive site, Plaun da Lej, Murtaröl, is situated in the Silsersee in Switzerland at an altitude of 1,797 m.a.s.l. It offers highly convenient shore access directly from a parking lot, with an entrance facilitated by stairs at the end of the lot. A notable feature of this site is a 'perde coach' wreck resting at a depth of 6-7 meters, providing an interesting focal point for underwater exploration amidst the lake's natural environment. The site is recognized for its impressive underwater world, particularly in autumn.
The lake's waters are home to a variety of freshwater fish species, including brook and lake trout, char, grayling, rudd, roach, minnow, and tench. While there are no large pelagic creatures, the diversity of these fish species contributes to the engaging aquatic life observed during dives.
Autumn is highlighted as the best time to visit due to exceptional visibility, while winter offers unique opportunities for ice diving, for which the site is particularly well-suited. Divers and freedivers will benefit from the shallow maximum depth of 12 meters (with an average depth of 6 meters) and the straightforward access, making it a highly beginner-friendly location. Divers should always be mindful of the altitude and plan their dives accordingly.
