This dive site is a beautiful, large bay on Hamburgö island in Sweden, characterized by a gently sloping bottom that reaches an average depth of 8 meters before maxing out at 17 meters. The underwater landscape consists of a sandy bottom interspersed with stones, rocks, and thriving weed beds. It is known for being sheltered from most winds, making it a calm environment, especially suitable for night diving and underwater photography.
The diverse marine life found here includes Coo-coo wrasse, pipefish often seen hiding in the weed, edible crabs, nudibranchs (nucibranches), and the distinctive lumb sucker. The bottom also features interesting sessile life such as dead man's fingers and various sponges.
This site is particularly recommended for those interested in macro photography and exploring nocturnal marine behavior during night dives due to its calm and sheltered nature. The best time to visit for potentially warmer water and better conditions is generally during the summer to early autumn months.
