This dive site, Ekensdal, is considered an advanced location primarily due to often poor visibility. Divers can initiate their exploration from a stone beach on the left. To the right of the steamboat pier, approximately 10 minutes away, lies a broken wooden wreck at depths between 11-16 meters. Directly in front of the pier, remnants of old cars add to the unique underwater landscape, offering interesting artificial structures for exploration.
Marine life at Ekensdal is not particularly abundant. However, divers may encounter some walleye and perch, especially when exploring around the wreck structures. The site's primary appeal lies more in its underwater topography and man-made features rather than a vibrant or diverse ecosystem.
The best time to visit Ekensdal would likely be during periods of better visibility, although this can be quite unpredictable. Highlights include the opportunity to explore the historical wooden wreck and the intriguing car remains. Due to the challenging visibility and depth, this site is best suited for experienced divers. Advanced freedivers might find the depths appealing but should be well-prepared for potentially low visibility conditions.
