This dive site, Veril Chico, is a rocky and sandy platform running parallel to Saladar beach in Jandia, Fuerteventura. It's characterized by a varied underwater relief, making it an interesting dive for experienced divers. Access is possible both from the beach and by boat, offering flexibility depending on conditions and preference. Navigation is relatively straightforward, following the rocky platform and exploring its crevices and sandy patches.
The marine life at Veril Chico is rich and varied. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of fish species, including angel sharks, rays, Atlantic mackerel, barracudas, groupers, yellowfin mackerel, morays, conger eels, and numerous smaller fish. The rocky structure provides habitats for a diverse range of invertebrates as well.
The best time to visit Veril Chico is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when the water temperature is more pleasant and visibility is generally better. However, it's important to check the weather forecast and sea conditions before each dive, especially regarding currents. For divers, appropriate certification (Advanced Open Water or equivalent) is essential given the depth. For freedivers, this site is not suitable because of the depth and the need for scuba gear for exploring the full range of the underwater landscape.
