This dive site is a sheltered man-made bay, Playa del Jablillo (Jablillo Beach), located in Lanzarote, Spain. Its calm and shallow waters make it an excellent location for divers and snorkelers of all experience levels. The bay’s protected nature offers a tranquil dive experience, relatively free from strong currents and significant depth changes. Navigation is straightforward, with a gently sloping seabed making it easy to explore.
The diverse marine life found here includes schools of salema, bream, seabream, ordinary damselfish, and ornate wrasse. You can also encounter spider crabs, wide-eyed flounder, and even stingrays that seek refuge in the sheltered environment. The seabed may offer some interesting rock formations and possibly patches of seagrass, providing habitat for the various species.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when water temperatures are more pleasant and visibility is generally better. For freediving, the calm conditions and shallow depth make it a suitable location for beginners to practice. For scuba divers, it offers a relaxed dive with plenty of opportunities for underwater photography, both macro and wide-angle shots. Remember to be respectful of the marine life and maintain a safe distance from the animals.
