This dive site, El Pinque Mushrooms, is situated within the sheltered Hard Rock Bay - Playa El Pinque in Tenerife, Spain. Divers access the site via stairs near the Hotel Beach Club. After passing a breakwater, two distinct terraces descend, joining on the right-hand side, ranging from 3 to 12 meters in depth. These terraces culminate after approximately 20 minutes at two unique and spectacular mushroom-shaped rock formations, which are the main highlight of the dive.
The bay boasts a diverse array of marine life, making it a rewarding experience for underwater explorers. Common sightings include fascinating creatures such as lobsters, various species of rays, elusive moray eels, intelligent octopuses, and camouflaged cuttlefish. The gentle topography and varied habitats support a healthy ecosystem.
This dive site is suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced divers, thanks to its shallow depths and calm bay conditions. While no specific 'best time to visit' is provided, diving in the Canary Islands is generally good year-round. It's an excellent spot for photographers seeking both wide-angle shots of the mushroom formations and macro opportunities with the abundant small marine life. Freedivers will also find the shallow, clear waters and interesting topography appealing.
