This dive site is the Chaparro wreck, a wooden fishing boat resting on a sandy bottom at a maximum depth of 18 meters. Navigation is straightforward due to the flat sandy seabed and the relatively large size of the wreck itself. The wreck is in poor condition, but this decay has created a rich habitat for marine life. There is no known specific history of the wreck beyond its current state as a popular dive site.
The abundant marine life includes sunfish, seahorses, yellowtails, octopus, groupers, nudibranchs, and bream. The diversity of species varies depending on the season, offering opportunities to spot a range of creatures, both large and small.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically better and more marine life is active. This site is well-suited to both scuba divers and freedivers due to its shallow depth and generally calm conditions. However, it is important to be mindful of potential changes in current strength and maintain safe diving practices.
