This dive site, known as Dangerous Doug reef, has a fascinating history. It’s named after a local diver who got lost while shore diving at Photographer's Reef and ended up quite far offshore. The return swim took him on the same course, resulting in his unexpected surfacing location. The reef itself is primarily composed of granite cornerstone outcrops with occasional boulders, varying considerably in size from small clusters to massive rock formations. You’ll find a large area of fairly level lower profile rooftop towards the east and a cluster of relatively high outcrops with sandy-bottomed gullies toward the west end. There are also some low outliers located northeast and a group called Dangerous Doug North Reef, situated just below 15 meters on the sand, reaching a maximum depth of approximately 10 meters at its top. The reef's topography features a medium profile, with variations in height throughout. Visibility is expected to be good due to the clear water surrounding this area.
