This dive site is known as the Kormoran/Zingara Wreck, which ran aground in 1984 on the north side of Laguna Reef in the Tiran Strait. Resting at an average depth of 8 meters, with a maximum depth of 17 meters, the wreck is completely broken and scattered across the reef. Its history as a grounded vessel adds a unique narrative to the underwater landscape, which divers can explore by navigating around the coral formations and wreck remnants.
The site is renowned for its beautiful and vibrant coral reef, boasting a rich diversity of both soft and hard corals that create impressive underwater 'hills'. Among these formations, divers frequently encounter schools of goat fish with distinctive yellow fins, which contribute to a truly magical and lively underwater atmosphere.
Accessibility to the Kormoran/Zingara Wreck is highly dependent on very good weather conditions, making careful planning essential for any visit. Due to its shallow average depth and abundant marine life, this dive site is exceptionally suitable for both scuba diving and freediving. The best time to visit would be during periods of calm seas and clear visibility to fully appreciate the stunning corals and the historical wreck fragments.
