About this dive site

This dive site, Chatham Bay, is nestled on Union Island, offering one of the most wild and pristine experiences in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. With its clear turquoise waters, a pristine white sand beach, and lush green hills providing a scenic backdrop, it's a truly idyllic location. Navigation underwater is straightforward due to its shallow nature and generally good visibility, making it very approachable for all levels.

The shallow waters and rocky seabed of Chatham Bay support a diverse array of marine life. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter various species, including graceful Moray eels, the distinct porcupinefish, colorful angelfish, and numerous lobsters seeking refuge among the rocks. While no large pelagic species are mentioned, the abundance of these smaller, fascinating creatures makes for engaging exploration.

The best time to visit Chatham Bay is generally during the dry season (December to May) when visibility is typically at its best and waters are calm. Its maximum depth of 5 meters and average depth of 2 meters make it exceptionally well-suited for beginners, snorkelers, and freedivers. The calm conditions and rich marine ecosystem in shallow water provide an excellent opportunity for underwater photography, particularly macro subjects, without the need for advanced diving skills.
