This dive site is the shallow wreck of the Barcaça barge, located off the Cabedelo sandbank at the mouth of the Douro River in Portugal. The wreck rests on a sandy bottom at 10 meters deep, oriented northeast-southeast. Divers can easily navigate the compact barge structure, which offers a simple yet interesting underwater exploration.
The site is home to various marine life, including octopuses and conger eels often found within the wreck's structure. Divers can also spot different species of crustaceans and a variety of interesting macro life, making it a good spot for observing smaller creatures and underwater photography.
Being shallow and accessible from shore or boat, this site is ideal for beginner divers and freedivers. The best time to visit would likely be during calm weather and slack tide to ensure optimal visibility and minimize potentially strong currents at the river mouth. It's a great spot for underwater photography of macro subjects and gaining wreck diving experience in a safe environment.
