About this dive site

This dive site, Arcos Cruzeiro, is renowned for its stunning volcanic rock formations, particularly a series of arches located around 30 meters deep. While the arches attract advanced divers seeking deep dive experiences, the site also offers shallower sections starting at 12 meters and extending to 18 meters, making it accessible for open water divers. Navigation typically involves following the reef contour, with clear depth variations.

The marine life at Arcos Cruzeiro is diverse, featuring species such as Slipper lobster, two banded sea bream, ballan wrasse, barred hogfish, planehead filefish, spiny spider crab, and triggerfish. These animals contribute to a vibrant underwater ecosystem amidst the volcanic landscape.

The best time to visit the Azores for diving is generally during the summer months from June to September when water temperatures are warmer and conditions are calmest, offering excellent visibility. Divers of all levels will find something to enjoy, with freedivers also benefiting from the clear waters and interesting depths.
