This dive site features the Tri-Bird Plane Wreck, a 20-meter long aircraft purposely sunk on March 1st, 2012. It lies upside down on sandy ground, with its wingspan reaching about 25 meters. The wreck structure begins at 25 meters and extends down to 30 meters, making it a prominent underwater landmark. As it's a relatively new addition, the wreck itself has not yet developed significant coral growth, providing a clear view of its metal fuselage.
Despite the young age of the wreck, the surrounding reef teems with vibrant aquatic life. Divers can expect to encounter various reef fish, along with notable species such as graceful turtles, camouflaged scorpionfish, and an array of colorful nudibranchs, adding diverse photographic opportunities.
The best time to visit Coron and dive this site is during the dry season, typically from October to June, when visibility is generally excellent and currents are mild. This site is well-suited for intermediate divers comfortable with depths approaching 30 meters. While not ideal for snorkeling due to depth, advanced freedivers might find the wreck accessible with proper planning and safety measures.
