This dive site, also known as Lighthouse Cove, is a remarkable cavern located north of San Miguel Island. It features a unique geological formation, with half of the cavern submerged underwater and the other half extending above the surface, serving as a habitat for bats and swiftlets. Divers navigate this site around a massive boulder named the “Sentinel,” which is renowned for its abundant macro life.
The waters surrounding Parola/Lighthouse are vibrant with marine activity. Divers can expect to encounter various reef fish, and the currents often attract larger pelagic animals. Specifically, sharks and rays are known to surf along the moderate to strong currents, providing thrilling encounters. The “Sentinel” boulder is a hotspot for smaller critters, suggesting a rich diversity of macro subjects, alongside various coral types.
While no specific best time to visit is mentioned, the dive site's highlights include its unique cavern structure, the opportunity to observe both significant pelagic species and fascinating macro life. Divers should be prepared for moderate to strong currents, making it suitable for those with intermediate to advanced experience in drift diving. Freedivers can also enjoy the shallower parts of the cavern and the rich marine life within the average 10-meter depth.
