This dive site, Jicdup Wall, is an expansive offshore reef located approximately 20 minutes by boat from the shore into the open ocean. The colossal reef, spanning 300x200 meters, begins at a shallow depth of 3 meters. The highlight is the Wall on its southwestern flank, a dramatic drop-off plunging to over 60 meters, adorned with numerous overhangs to explore. Divers typically navigate along the wall, exploring the overhangs and the vibrant reef top, though recreational limits are 24 meters for this analysis.
The marine life here is abundant and diverse. Divers are often accompanied by large schools of fusiliers and other schooling fish. The wall itself hosts a multitude of anemones, providing perfect habitats for various species of clownfish. Beyond the reef, the blue water frequently reveals pelagic visitors such as tunas passing by, adding an exciting dimension to the dive.
While specific best times are not provided, offshore reefs in the Philippines generally offer excellent diving during dry seasons (November to May) with calm seas and peak visibility. The shallow reef top makes Jicdup Wall highly suitable for snorkelers, offering an accessible glimpse into its vibrant ecosystem. Freedivers will also find this site appealing, with a range of depths from the shallow reef to the deeper wall providing varied training and exploration opportunities.
