This dive site is the artificial house reef of Acqua Dive Resort, strategically located just south of Zambo's Secret and Coleman's. Established by the resort, it features an array of metal structures, an old car, and concrete blocks, creating diverse habitats for marine life. Divers can explore these structures, navigating at an average depth of 10 meters, with a maximum depth of 21 meters. The site is designed to be easily accessible from the shore, making it convenient for resort guests and divers focusing on macro photography.
Acqua House Reef is a renowned hotspot for macro critters. It boasts an impressive diversity of frogfish, with 8 different species identified on site. Other notable inhabitants include ornate ghost pipefish, robust ghost pipefish, zebra crabs, and Coleman’s shrimps, among a myriad of other small invertebrates and reef fish attracted to the artificial structures.
The best time to visit this dive site for optimal macro viewing is generally during the dry season, from November to May, when conditions are typically calmer. Divers and freedivers alike will appreciate the shallow average depth, which allows for extended bottom times and excellent opportunities for spotting rare macro subjects. It is particularly recommended for underwater photographers due to the abundance and variety of its small inhabitants.
