Ghar Lapsi - Cave, located in Siggiewi on the south coast of Malta, is a highly regarded dive site renowned for its diverse underwater landscape. This small, rocky inlet provides one of the few shore access points along this coastline, offering a variety of diving experiences from shallow sites to impressive formations.
The site features beautiful sandy bays and reefs, with a captivating transition zone between the sand and reef showcasing a rich variety of algae. The main draw, however, are the extensive underwater caves, which harbor fascinating sponges and an abundance of marine life, often displaying beautiful backlights that enhance the diving experience.
Beyond the primary cave systems, divers can explore several named reefs. Finger Reef, a finger-shaped formation with a small wall and a cave featuring an exit hole, reaches a maximum depth of 20 meters. Middle Reef, consisting of multiple reefs surrounded by sand, sea grass, and boulders, descends to 12 meters. Further offshore, Black John offers interesting rock formations and haloclines, with a maximum depth of 38 meters. Adding a unique touch, the site also hosts 'The Crib,' an underwater nativity scene. Ghar Lapsi is truly a rewarding dive, blending natural beauty with intriguing geological formations for an unforgettable exploration.
