This dive site, Ruit, is located just a 5-minute boat ride north of Juara Bay on Tioman Island. It features a gently sloping coral reef that transitions from shallow depths of 2 meters down to 18 meters, eventually meeting a sandy bottom dotted with isolated coral clusters. The site also boasts interesting bouldering rock formations and large areas of monoculture coral composition, offering an easy navigation experience by following the reef slope.
Divers at Ruit can expect to encounter a vibrant array of marine life including Parrotfish, Wrasse, Angelfish, Butterflyfish, Anemonefish, and Damsel fish. The coral landscape is rich with various hard corals such as Cabbage, Branching, Plate, and Digitate formations, complemented by soft leather and daisy corals. Additionally, keen eyes might spot Cuttlefish, Sharks, and Turtles, adding to the site's biodiversity.
The best time to visit Ruit, like much of Tioman Island, is during the dry season from March to October for optimal conditions. Its maximum depth of 17 meters and an average depth of 8 meters make it suitable for divers of all experience levels, including snorkelers and freedivers. While generally calm, divers should be aware that surge can affect the shallower areas, particularly during specific tidal or weather conditions.
