This dive site, known as the Corn Wreck, is situated near Redang Marine Park in Malaysia. Originally sunk in front of the park, it drifted to its current resting place. The wreck's structure remains largely intact, offering an interesting dive around its walls, which serve as an artificial reef.
The site is adorned with an abundance of both hard and soft corals, which have colonized the wreck. Divers can expect to see various reef fish species inhabiting the vibrant coral gardens. A unique feature of this site is the opportunity to use UV lighting to observe the fluorescent effects on the corals, highlighting diverse marine invertebrate life.
The Corn Wreck is a great spot for underwater photography, especially with its intact structure and colorful corals. Divers should be aware that currents can be unpredictable and potentially strong, requiring vigilance. The shallow maximum depth of 10 meters makes it accessible for various certification levels, and it's particularly suitable for snorkelers and freedivers, provided they are comfortable with variable currents.
