The Cedar Pride offers an exceptional dive experience centered around a former Lebanese freighter, intentionally sunk in 1985 to create an artificial reef. This 80m cargo ship, now resting on its port side and spanning two reefs, is easily visible from the surface and located close to shore, making it highly accessible for both divers and freedivers. The wreck remains largely intact, providing straightforward navigation along its structure and opportunities for both exterior exploration and interior penetration for experienced divers, while shallower areas are perfect for beginners.
Teeming with marine life, the Cedar Pride is a vibrant underwater ecosystem. Divers can expect to encounter hawksbill turtles, barracudas, and the occasional large Napoleon wrasse. Smaller creatures like lobsters, nudibranchs, frogfish, and ghost pipefish are also common, especially during rewarding night dives which may also reveal bioluminescent fish. The ship's masts are adorned with a beautiful array of hard and soft corals, attracting various reef fish. Visibility is generally excellent, especially during the warmer months from April to October, allowing for clear views of the photogenic wreck as it fades into the blue depths of the Red Sea. Divers should maintain good buoyancy control to protect the fragile corals and wreck structure, always dive with a buddy, and inform someone onshore of their dive plan.
