This dive site, Faraglioni di Punta della Madonna, is located near the port of Ponza, Italy, just past the Grotte di Pilato. It's easily accessible by dinghy and offers a diverse dive experience suitable for all levels. The site features both wall and cave diving, starting from a shallow 4 meters, making it beginner-friendly while still offering interesting features for more experienced divers. A prominent natural arch adds to the site's scenic beauty.
Marine life is abundant. Divers can expect to see lobsters, groupers, slipper lobster, moray eels, white bream, nudibranchs, octopuses, and parazoanthus. With some luck, you might also spot needlefish. The combination of varied terrain and abundant marine life makes this site excellent for both macro and wide-angle photography.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months, from June to September, when the water is clearest and the visibility is best. While currents are generally mild, it's always advisable to check local conditions before diving. For freediving, the shallower sections are ideal for practicing, while experienced freedivers can explore the deeper parts of the site. Remember to maintain a safe distance from marine life and respect the underwater environment.
