This dive site, known as Aquarium, is located on the East-northeast side of Utila, approximately 20 minutes by boat from the main dive centers. It features a diverse structure comprising three distinct reefs: a shoreline reef, a middle reef, and an outer reef that runs parallel to the middle one. The topography is very scenic, characterized by interesting overhangs, accessible caverns, and smaller caves, offering varied routes for exploration.
The Aquarium is a fantastic spot for marine life observation, particularly for those interested in spotting Octopus, various Moray Eels, and members of the colourful Boxfish family. Divers can also frequently encounter Lionfish and, notably, Nurse Sharks that are often found resting during the day in the reef's sheltered areas.
Given its shallow average depth and interesting features, Aquarium is suitable for divers of all experience levels and is also an excellent choice for freedivers and snorkelers. While no specific best time to visit is provided, the Bay Islands generally offer good diving conditions year-round. Its rich reef structure and diverse inhabitants make it ideal for both wide-angle landscape shots and macro photography.
