This dive site, Le Canon, is located north of the Pointe d’Antigues and is named for the remains of an old cannon found atop its plateau, though it can be a challenge to spot. A notable feature is 'la petite arche d’Antigues,' a small arch that divers often explore. The site gently descends to a maximum depth of 16 meters, offering an accessible and engaging underwater exploration.
Divers can frequently encounter barracudas, especially congregating under the arch, making for exciting encounters. The diverse ecosystem is also home to graceful angelfish, fascinating sand urchins, tropical sole, and schooling squid. Moray eels can be spotted lurking in crevices, and crayfish are often found hidden among the rocks, showcasing a rich variety of marine life.
This shallow and vibrant site is ideal for both beginner divers and freedivers due to its manageable depth and abundant marine life. It offers excellent opportunities for macro photography with its smaller inhabitants and wide-angle shots of the arch and schooling fish. The best time to visit aligns with Guadeloupe's dry season, typically from December to May, ensuring calm waters and optimal visibility for an unforgettable dive experience.
