This dive site is the wreck of the Tugboat Boris, a 30-meter (100-foot) vessel resting at a maximum depth of 26 meters (84 feet) with an average depth of 13 meters. It is situated on the northwest side of Mabouya Island, off the coast of Hillsborough, Grenada. Divers can explore the exterior of the well-preserved tugboat, navigate around its structure, and peer into some of its accessible chambers, providing a dynamic wreck diving experience.
The Tugboat Boris wreck acts as an artificial reef, attracting diverse marine life. Divers can expect to encounter large schools of barracuda circling the wreck, graceful angelfish swimming peacefully around the structure, and nurse sharks often found resting in or near the wreck. Lionfish are also frequently observed, particularly in sheltered spots between the propellers and within accessible chambers of the tugboat.
The best time to visit this dive site, like most in Grenada, is generally during the dry season (January to May) when weather conditions are calmer and visibility is typically at its best. Divers should be comfortable with wreck diving and potential moderate currents. For freedivers, the average depth of 13 meters makes it an interesting site to explore the exterior of the wreck, though deeper sections require advanced breath-hold skills.
