This dive site is the Persia, a small cargo vessel (100ft / 30m) that sank in May 2018 on its way to Grenada. It was laden with vegetables, sweets, snacks, and personal clothing items. The wreck sits upright on the seabed at approximately 38 meters (125 feet), offering a clear navigational structure for divers to explore the cargo holds and superstructure.
The Persia wreck is a vibrant artificial habitat, notably attracting numerous Lionfish, likely due to its offshore distance and exposure to strong currents. These conditions also draw in Nurse sharks, which are frequently observed around the wreck, along with the occasional sleeping Turtle, providing an exciting encounter for divers.
Given its offshore location (6.5 miles from Grenada) and strong currents, the Persia is best suited for advanced divers comfortable with challenging conditions and deeper dives. While no specific season is highlighted, the generally stable tropical climate of Grenada makes it a year-round diving destination. Divers should be prepared for potential drift dives and keep an eye out for the dynamic marine life.
