This dive site, L'Anse Aux Epines, is a shallow, beginner-friendly location situated off the beach of the Calabash Boutique Hotel on Grenada's southern coast. Primarily known for snorkeling, the site consists of expansive seagrass beds interspersed with vibrant coral outcrops. Navigation is straightforward, staying within the shallow bay, particularly exploring the coral clusters around the western headland.
The marine life here primarily consists of colorful juvenile fish species, which are particularly abundant around the coral formations. While much of the seabed is seagrass, these areas also support various smaller creatures. The coral outcrops themselves add to the biodiversity, offering shelter and food for a range of small invertebrates and fish.
This site is ideal for snorkeling and beginner divers seeking a relaxed, shallow experience. Its calm, clear waters make it accessible for most of the year, though the dry season (January to May) typically offers the best conditions. Freedivers will appreciate the minimal depth and good visibility for practicing skills or simply enjoying the tranquil underwater environment.
