About this dive site

This dive site, the Grand Anse Artificial Reef, was established in 2015 through the collaborative efforts of Dive Grenada and the Grenadian Tourist Authority. It serves as a vital marine habitat, constructed from over 40 pyramid-shaped units made of hollow brick. These structures are spread across a shallow sandy bottom, offering easy navigation for divers and a developing habitat.

The artificial reef is designed to attract and support a variety of marine life. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter numerous juvenile reef fish seeking shelter, alongside various snappers, parrotfish, and damselfish. As the reef matures, it will also host a growing diversity of invertebrates such as crabs, shrimp, and nudibranchs, with sponges and soft corals beginning to colonize the brick structures.

The Grand Anse Artificial Reef is suitable for diving year-round, making it an excellent spot for beginner divers, snorkelers, and freedivers due to its extremely shallow depths. Its calm, clear waters provide extended bottom times and fantastic visibility. This site is particularly ideal for macro photography enthusiasts looking to capture the developing ecosystem.
