This dive site features a collection of four individual wrecks known as The Spanish Barges. Two of these wrecks were originally dumped into the area in the 1950s during jetty refurbishment work. The remaining two wrecks, situated further offshore, were intentionally sunk in the 1980s as part of Gibraltar’s artificial reef program. This project has significantly benefited the local marine environment, creating a thriving habitat and contributing to the regeneration of surrounding marine life. It's a popular location for divers seeking to explore submerged history and witness the positive impact of ecological restoration.
