This dive site features the rare wreck of a MiG-17 aircraft, a unique relic from the Russian occupation period, discovered in 2013 in the Schwerin Outer Sea. Divers must approach this site exclusively from a local base and are required to demonstrate very safe buoyancy control. A single incorrect fin stroke can easily stir up the fine sediment, rapidly clouding the visibility and obscuring the impressive wreck.
As an inland freshwater wreck, the dive site is unlikely to host a wide array of marine life typical of saltwater environments. Divers might encounter common freshwater fish species, various aquatic plants, and potentially some crustaceans that have colonized the aircraft's structure, offering opportunities for macro observation of a unique freshwater ecosystem.
The best time to visit this dive site would likely be during periods of stable weather, which can help maintain optimal water clarity. Divers are strongly advised to practice and utilize excellent buoyancy skills to preserve visibility for themselves and others. Freedivers will find the shallow depths ideal for breath-hold diving, but they too must be exceptionally mindful of their finning technique.
