This dive site, Happurger Baggersee, is a freshwater quarry lake near Nuremberg, Germany, approximately 350x150 meters in size. Entry is conveniently located near the water rescue station, with seasonal facilities like a restaurant and toilets available. As an excavated lake ("Baggersee"), its underwater topography likely consists of sloping sandy or silty bottoms, potentially with some submerged vegetation or simple structures characteristic of such sites.
The lake is home to a variety of freshwater fish species including eels, perch, carp, pike, roach, and rudd. A unique highlight is the seasonal presence of small freshwater jellyfish, which are non-stinging. The ecosystem primarily features freshwater flora typical of temperate lakes.
The Happurger Baggersee is best visited during warmer months when facilities are open and there is no ice cover, as diving is prohibited in icy conditions. Divers should note that night diving is also prohibited. Its shallow depth and mild conditions make it particularly suitable for beginner divers and for training, as well as for macro photography focusing on the small jellyfish and other aquatic life. Freedivers and snorkelers will also find the site enjoyable due to its accessible depths and visible marine life.
