This dive site features the Dornbuschwrack, a 30-meter wooden barge resting at a maximum depth of 28 meters in Germany's Werbellinsee. This captivating wreck is the main draw for advanced divers, offering an intriguing exploration of its well-preserved structure. A second wooden barge is also located nearby, though it is largely covered by sand. The site provides a unique freshwater wreck diving experience.
The wrecks serve as a habitat for specific freshwater fauna. In the colder months of winter, divers often encounter large catfish seeking shelter within the barge's superstructure. Burbots also favor this location as their winter quarters, adding to the site's distinctive marine life.
With good visibility reported all year round, the Dornbuschwrack is consistently accessible. However, winter is particularly recommended for wildlife enthusiasts due to the increased presence of catfish and burbots. Given the maximum depth of 28 meters and the nature of wreck diving, this site is exclusively suitable for advanced scuba divers equipped for cold water conditions. Freedivers with appropriate training and experience may also find the site appealing.
