This dive site, Crique du Squéouel, is a charming, shallow crique situated on France's famous Côte de Granit Rose. Primarily known as a superb snorkeling destination, its underwater landscape is characterized by distinctive pink granite rocks and extensive kelp meadows. Navigation is straightforward, staying within the sheltered cove, exploring the nooks and crannies of the rocky bottom.
The marine ecosystem here is surprisingly vibrant for its shallow depth. Snorkelers and divers can expect to encounter a good diversity of fish species, various starfish, and lobsters hiding among the rocks. A special highlight is the occasional sighting of gray seals, adding a memorable element to the experience.
The best time to visit Crique du Squéouel is during the warmer months, typically from late spring to early autumn, when water temperatures are more comfortable and marine activity is high. It is particularly well-suited for beginners and snorkelers due to its very shallow maximum depth of 5 meters and generally calm conditions. Freedivers will also appreciate the clear waters and abundant life. Remember to bring appropriate cold water gear if diving outside of peak summer.
